The Behind the Headlines programme from The Guardian Foundation helps young people to understand the news and media around them and encourages the development of their critical thinking and analysis skills.

The programme is made up of 8 lessons covering topics such as what news is and what makes newsworthy stories, the difference between fact and opinion, and spotting ‘fake news’. Each lesson comes with a slide pack, teacher guidance and classroom activities.

The resources have also been designed in a way that supports use with learners with special educational needs.
