Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Malala Yousafzai, was targeted and severely wounded by a Taliban gunshot on her way home from school for advocating for girls’ education. The six-lesson units for Key Stage Three and Four explore the themes and issues portrayed in the He Named Me Malala documentary. The film introduces students to discussions surrounding unity, peace and education in the face of terrorism. These thought-provoking topics help to facilitate discussion among students, introduce them to writer’s purpose, as well as stimulate creative and non-fiction writing.
